People operations dashboard: keep delivery on track by balancing demand and capacity

If you’re an Operations leader, you know the feeling. A project’s kickoff is pushed by a month, utilization takes a hit, and a run of upcoming holiday requests pushes the rest of the team into crunch mode. By the time you see the full picture, you’re not preventing the bottleneck—you’re explaining why it happened.
The People operations dashboard gives you a live view of capacity, utilization, and workforce mix, built from what’s actually scheduled in Float. Delivery bottlenecks become visible before they can derail the team.
It’s also the capacity-focused companion to Float’s Project finance dashboard. Where the Project finance dashboard surfaces margin, cost, and revenue risk, this one centers on the capacity and workforce signals that often sit behind them, so Finance and Operations are finally looking at the same picture at the same time.
Stay ahead of capacity pressure
Because the People operations dashboard is built directly from Float’s live schedule data, delivery bottlenecks become visible as you plan out the work—when you can still do something about them.
In a single view, you can:
- Compare current and projected demand with available capacity or identify where capacity pressure is building within the period
- Understand how planned time off is affecting available capacity
- Oversee and review the workforce mix by employee, contractor, placeholder, or unassigned
- See how much of your team’s utilization is converting to billable work
Instead of reacting to delivery problems after they surface, you get early visibility grounded in what’s actually scheduled.

Getting started
The People operations dashboard is only as current as the data behind it. To get a reliable view of capacity, utilization, and workforce mix, make sure three things are up to date in Float:
- Your schedule: the planned or logged allocations across your team
- Your people: employees, contractors, or placeholders with correct work hours set
- Your time-off data: leave that’s entered, approved, and up to date
Keep these current, and the dashboard becomes your earliest signal for capacity risk before it becomes a delivery problem.
