Coming soon: the Project finance dashboard

For Finance leaders in professional services, the data isn't the problem—timing is. Margins shift in the plan. Costs climb mid-delivery. By the time reporting catches up, the outcome is already set.
The Project finance dashboard is coming to Float, giving CFOs and finance teams a direct view of delivery margin, revenue, and cost signals across active work.
The dashboard pulls from active projects, scheduled hours, and project expenses. This isn’t meant to replace your month-end accounting. Overhead and bench time can stay in your ERP reports. It’s meant to reflect what’s happening in delivery, while there's still time to act on it.
For the Operations leads and resource managers working alongside you, it’s the view that connects their scheduling decisions to your bottom line.
Make sure you’re ready from day one
The dashboard's delivery margin, revenue, and cost metrics run on three inputs already in Float. Getting these right before launch means you'll have an accurate, complete picture from the moment it goes live.
1. Set your cost and bill rates
Head to Team settings and add cost and bill rates at the role level. If you’re starting from scratch, a role-level or company-wide blended rate is a solid starting point. You can always refine from there.
2. Switch to fee-based project budgets
Time & materials and fixed-fee budget types are what power revenue and margin calculations. If your projects are currently tracked in hours only, Float can’t calculate revenue, so now’s the time to make the switch.
3. Confirm your team is in Float
The dashboard is built for Finance and Ops to work from the same numbers. If your Finance team isn't in Float yet, invite them as free Guests so they’ll have access when it lands.
🔒 The Project finance dashboard includes sensitive financial data. Access will be limited to Account Owners, Admins, or Guests with equivalent permissions.
Coming alongside it: the People operations dashboard
The Project finance dashboard is rolling out with a companion: the People operations dashboard. Where this dashboard surfaces margin and revenue risk, the People operations dashboard focuses on capacity, supply, and demand. Together, Finance and Operations finally have a shared view of delivery health, built from the same numbers.
Available on Pro and Enterprise
Both the Project finance and People operations dashboards will be available on Float’s Pro and Enterprise plans.
Roll-out
The project finance dashboard is currently in early access. Book a demo with sales to see it in action, or reach out to support@float.com if you'd like to get set up and share feedback before the full release.
