Organize your time-off types into groups for easier and more accurate policy management

Time off management gets complex fast when rules vary across regions, roles, and teams. Now, with time-off groups, you can organize leave types into clear categories and assign them to the right people—so each person only sees the leave options that apply to them.
No more confusion with leave requests or accidental misreporting, just accurate time-off management across your team.
Organize time off by region, tenure, or role
Time-off groups let you bundle specific time-off types and assign them to the right people on your team. Create groups based on region, tenure level, or employment type, then add the relevant time-off types to each group. When booking time off, people only see the leave options available to them.
The result: fewer mistakes, cleaner data, and more accurate time-off management.

Use time-off groups for things like:
Managing regional policies: Create different groups by country, state, or region, each with its own time-off types and allowances. For example, a “PTO: UK” group and a “PTO: Japan” group that reflects the time-off policies for that region.
Handling tenure-based benefits: When leave benefits differ based on length of service such as countries that offer long-service leave or companies with milestone sabbatical leave policies, you can create custom time-off groups tied to tenure.
For example, let's say your company offers additional time off to employees after five years. Now you can create a time-off group for employees with less than five years of service, and another for those with more than five years—then apply the relevant time-off types to each group.
Separating different employment types: Use groups to manage different people types, like leave policies for full-time employees vs. contractors, so that each group only sees what's relevant to their role and agreements.

The Starter plan includes one default time-off group with up to 30 time-off types—best for teams that use the same leave policies.
If your team needs different leave rules (e.g., by location, role, or tenure), you’ll need multiple time-off groups. This is available on the Pro and Enterprise plans.
If you’re on Starter and want to try this feature out, email support@float.com to request a free Pro trial.
