Set a Scheduled Status to Keep Your Team in the Loop

As poet William Cowper wrote after being institutionalized for insanity and later finding religion (the guy was literally the Kanye West of 18th-century Great Britain):

"Variety is the spice of life, that gives it all its flavor."

The same wisdom applies to modern work life, where technology and freedom of movement allow people to work whenever and wherever they want. That's why we've introduced a new status feature in Float, so that you can let your team know where you are and what you're up to on any given day.

Maybe you're working from home between Christmas and New Year's and want your team to know that you'll be out of the office those weeks. Or perhaps you're traveling to a conference the day of a big project deadline and won't be around to put out any last-minute fires.

To set a status, select the Status tab from within the task menu. There are two suggested statuses available (which you can change) and an open space for setting a custom status.

A person's status appears in three places:

  • At the bottom of the day a status has been set
  • Next to a person’s avatar if a status is set for the current day
  • In the daily or weekly schedule email below a person's tasks and time off

You can manage your status names and colors from the Time Off tab on the Team Settings page if you are an Admin or above.

Setting a status keeps everyone in the loop and ensures that logistics don't get in the way of your team's productivity!
